Environmentally Sustainable Systems (ESS) and ESS Ecology has specialised for twenty-four years in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and surveys for the renewable energy sector, having conducted bird and marine mammal studies at nineteen offshore wind farm sites, including for eleven years at Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm. The company has undertaken terrestrial and freshwater ecological surveys at over seventy onshore wind farm sites, contributed to many Environmental Impact Assessment studies, and has successfully extended its ecological, planning, development and construction expertise to the health, education and housing sectors.
We help find sustainable solutions to development planning, biodiversity threats, the impacts of climate change, adaptation to these impacts, and the management of energy and environmental aspects of projects. These solutions are delivered through EIA, research and assessment studies, environmental surveys, statistical modelling and analysis, scientific and policy reports, together with a range of public presentations, workshops, formal training courses, lectures and seminars.
